Real Madrid once again proved to be a quality team, but their efforts weren’t enough to win against Sevilla.
The Whites dominated most of the clash with Sevilla, but the latter side made excellent use of their chances and eventually won 4-3.
“Sunday’s home match against Sevilla was pretty exciting, as most fixtures are between these two teams. We started well and had several chances on goal but Sevilla were effective in attack and their early strike hurt us,” says Rafael van der Vaart.
“We tried to look for an opening in their lines but their defence was very solid. Drenthe took to the pitch, coming in for me, in the second half. Higuaín’s goal intensified the team’s performance and we started reaching the goal more often, keeping possession and forcing Sevilla to stay in their half of the pitch, ultimately scoring again only a few minutes later.”
“The chances continued but we were maybe too anxious and in the end we lost our first league game at our stadium in eight months. “
“We didn’t want to lose more points, especially at our own stadium, but it wasn’t for the lack of trying. Real Madrid gave it their all and were unlucky enough to concede a goal in the end. Our next few clashes will be very important. We will work hard on some of our mistakes and will need our fans to back us up.”
